Healthy Tips

Our office provides a full range of services and has the latest in dental technology and equipment. Our staff is friendly and will take the time to answer any questions you might have. Below are some good dental hygiene tips to help keep your smile healthy between your normal cleanings & check-ups:


  • Use a damp washcloth to wipe your infant's gums after each meal.
  • DO NOT put your infant or young child to bed with a bottle of milk, juice, or sugar water. Use only water for bedtime bottles.
  • Begin using a soft toothbrush instead of a washcloth to clean your child's teeth as soon as his first tooth shows (usually between 5-8 months of age).
  • Ask your pediatrician if your infant needs fluoride added to his diet


  • Be presistent - have children brush their teeth.
  • Brush teeth with a fluoride toothpaste.
  • Provide healthy foods and limit sweet snacks and drinks.
  • Provide low-fat milk and dairy products high in calcium.
  • Schedule regular dental check-ups.


  • Limit your teens soft drink intake.  Soft drinks are the leading cause of cavaties in teens
  • Avoid tobacco, both smoking and smokeless tobacco
  • Wisdom teeth are common in older teens, consult Dr. Reynolds for information.
  • Provide your teen with plenty of good oral-hygiene supplies
  • Parents, set a good example of good oral hygiene for your teen.


  • Brush your teeth at least twice daily, preferably after every meal and at bedtime.
  • Floss at least once per day.
  • Schedule an appointment with a dentist for a routine cleaning and examination. Many dentists recommend having the teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months.
  • Keep dentures, retainers, and other appliances clean. This includes regular brushing and may include soaking them in a cleansing solution.
